Believe it or not John Cena’s dog tags have nothing to do with a fashion statement, the champ started wearing them while filming “The Marine”
“I’ve always respected the principals of the military, when I started doing all the military appreciation events, like going to Iraq and training at Paris Island, I learned about the value of dog tags, not only from a literal standpoint but also an emotional standpoint.”
According to a WWE.com article he is so attached to the dog tags that when the company asked to borrow them for a mere 5 minutes to snap some photo’s he abjectly refused responding with a flat “Hell No”.
Whose names are on the tags? Well whoever knows is keeping quiet but I think it’s pretty likely the names of his Mother, Father and Brother are there considering he often holds his tags when talking about his family.
It’s nice to see Cena taking an appreciative stance towards the armed forces and after reading many forum posts and comments around the internet I think it’s safe to say most of his fans agree however a number also think he shouldn’t have to wear dog tags to prove that some people are important to him.
